About Us

The Queen's Awards For Enterprise: Sustainable Development 2010The Furniture Donation Network is a ‘Community Dotcom’ charity portal developed by social entrepreneur Steve Jackson OBE, founder of Recycling Lives – a Queen’s Award-winning commercial recycler and social welfare charity. The intuitive Furniture Donation Network project aims to provide people across the UK with an easy way to donate very good and excellent quality furniture to local charities by allowing them to book a convenient collection date via an online portal.

At the Furniture Donation Network, we protect the integrity of the service on behalf of our charity collection partners by asking customers to ensure that all the furniture they donate is in either a ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’ condition*.

By guaranteeing a good standard of donated furniture, we can make sure that our charity collection partners get the maximum benefit from the items that are donated, rather than having to meet the costs associated with the disposal of broken and damaged goods.

If our charity collection partners are called out to collect furniture that’s not suitable for reuse, you will have simply wasted their time and fuel. So, if your furniture items are a little bit more ‘well loved’, and not in great condition, please use the BulkyWaste collection service. This alternative collection service is also operated by local charities, who may still be able to ‘restore’ some of the furniture for reuse. Bulky Waste guarantees collection of your unwanted or damaged items, regardless of their condition.

Thank you for booking your charity furniture collection with Furniture Donation Network!

*Fire safety labels:

In all cases and without exception, we can only accept upholstered furniture which has its original fire safety labels (Furniture and Furnishing Regs 1988) attached. If your item does not have the necessary labels, it won’t be able to be re-used, so please visit the Bulky Waste website instead.
